McDonald's: Gridlock as fast food fans go nuts for Ayrshire reopening

Irvine’s McDonald’s reopened today causing gridlock at the Riverway retail park.

Fast food fans flooded the restaurant's drive-thru this lunchtime with as many as 30 cars queuing to get their hands on their menu favourites.

An eye witness said: “At least 30 cars are snaked throughout the car park today and more are arriving every second.”

This is the first time the popular burger joint opened its doors since lockdown was enforced in March.

McDonald’s lovers in Scotland are now able to get their hands on a ‘limited menu’ after being snubbed by the major fast food chain.

Franchises in England and Wales were the first to reopen, leaving Scots without their favourite fast food fix. Normally a 24 hour store, the Irvine chain will close tonight at 10pm.
