McDonald's gang who terrified customers return to cause 'nuisance' as police step up patrols

Police patrols have been stepped up around a Liverpool branch of McDonald's after the same gang were thought to have caused trouble on consecutive nights.

Officers were called to the Rice Lane outlet on Saturday night following reports a group of 'youths' caused damage and tried to intimidate staff and customers.

The same group is thought to have returned on Sunday evening and caused further trouble.

Police attended the branch after being called at 6.40pm on Saturday.

Concerns had been raised about a group of teenagers, male and female, causing damage and intimidating people.

Photographs taken at the outlet showed two smashed windows and one mum told the ECHO: “There were a lot of people being turned away who were on foot and I think people need to be aware because it was disgusting.

The lady at the door said the youths are there all the time.

She said: "People need to know because if that is their child out they have cost thousands of pounds the windows were smashed and there were people inside terrified."

Police attended the same branch at 5.15pm on Sunday following reports a group was causing a "nuisance".

Officers believe the trouble was caused by members of the same group responsible for Saturday's issues.

No damage was caused on Sunday and the group had left the area before patrols arrived.

Patrols have been stepped up in the area and CCTV and other enquiries are being carried out by police.

Work is also taking place with schools in the area in a bid to resolve the problem.

Local policing Inspector Graeme Rooney said: “Work is ongoing to identify all the individuals involved in this incident. We will be working with our partners and local schools officers and also examining CCTV.

“This type of behaviour is totally unacceptable and we will take all necessary action against the individuals involved.

“I would also ask parents to ensure they know where their children are, what they are doing and who they are associating with in order to stop them from becoming involved in anti-social behaviour.”
