McDonald’s Fun Football Festival coming to Windsor Park on May 12

The IFA and McDonald’s are bringing their biggest ever free Fun Football Festival to the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park next month.

More than 4,000 children will gain full access to Northern Ireland’s home pitch for a full day of skills and drills on May 12.

Children from across Northern Ireland (aged 5-11) will be able to participate in this exciting and unique (free to attend) Fun Football Festival through registering at www.irishfa.com/mcdonaldsfestival  - everyone welcome!

From skills, drills, stalls and rides to bouncy castles, and music, there is something for all the family at this major event and McDonald’s and the IFA are encouraging children and families to attend and participate.

The event is part of the McDonald’s IFA four-year partnership which will run until 2022.

Fun Football Festivals are a core element of the programme along with Fun Football Sessions and the annual Grassroots Football Awards.

McDonald’s is now the longest-standing supporter of grassroots football across the UK, with 2019 marking 17 years in partnership.

Through ‘turn up and play’ coaching sessions and more Fun Football Festivals than ever before, McDonald’s will provide thousands of children with the opportunity to try football for the first time.

These FREE Fun Football Festivals and Sessions are designed to introduce thousands of children, aged 5-11, regardless of gender or disability to football and will deliver 250,000 hours of coaching, games and fun to more than 75,000 children from across Northern Ireland.

McDonald’s Football Ambassador and Northern Ireland record cap holder Pat Jennings said: “The upcoming Fun Football Festival on the 12 of May at the National Stadium is a once in a lifetime experience for children.

"It was a real privilege for me to play on this pitch as an international, and for thousands of children to have the opportunity to get involved in free Fun Football sessions on the pitch is a wonderful opportunity.

"Inclusivity is a core element of the McDonald’s IFA Fun Football programme, and I hope that people will register and take advantage of this great event. I have to say, I’m a little bit envious of the children, the pitch is like a carpet, it wasn’t quite as smooth as this in my day.”
