McDonald's fans have been eating fries wrong for years

Whatever you order from McDonald's, chances are, you'll get fries with it.

No Big Mac, chicken nugget or McChicken sandwich meal is complete without a portion of chips fresh out the fryer, and of course, your sauce of choice on the side.

But it turns out we've all been eating our fries wrong for years  - and there's a good reason why.

According to the Mirror, the revelation was first shared by the "Today Years old" account on Twitter, a page that regularly reveals the most commonly unknown public discoveries - and it's guaranteed to change the game for dip lovers.

Apparently, there is a designated flap on the back of the fry container where you can put your dip of choice.

The hack has since received 1,300 likes and 130 comments from stunned foodies.

The page wrote: "Did y’all know the flap on your fries box actually has a purpose?"

One said: "I am shook."

Another wrote: "Learn something new everyday."

And a third said: "I can't believe nobody knew this... I was like 10 when I figured this out. Where y'all been?"

But a couple of people were sceptical.

One said: "To accidentally catapult ketchup all over your nice clean shirt?"

And another pointed out that the flap looked as if it should be a lid as there are slits in the cardboard to keep it together.

Well, you learn something new every day, don't you.
