McDonald's enthusiasts have been devastated by a nationwide shortage of a popular chicken dish.
The fast-food restaurant has run out of Chicken Selects, strips of tender chicken breast in a seasoned, crispy coating.
Those who wonder whether fans of the deep-fried poultry treat could simply opt for a McNugget instead have another thought coming.
Selects are integral ingredients of Big Flavour Chicken Wraps and the Chicken Deluxe Burger, both of which have also vanished from menus.
One woman discovered the chicken shelves were empty when she went to pick up some food at her local McDonald's.

There she discovered a sign explaining that the "Chicken Selects and Big Flavour Wraps are currently unavailable due to a nationwide shortage.
"We apologise for any inconvenience."
Because the Chicken Deluxe Burger was due to be retired from the menu on Tuesday June 15, McDonald's fans may not be able to give it a proper send off.
Hungry fast-food lovers have taken news of the Selects shortage hard.

"Been craving chicken selects all day only to find out there’s a nationwide shortage????" one person tweeted in despair.
Another added: "Legitimately, specifically walked to McDonald's for chicken selects. I could actually cry right now."
A third said: "Are Mcdonald's having a shortage of Chicken Selects I'm SCREAMING ffs."
A McDonald's spokesperson said: “Unfortunately we have a temporary shortage of Chicken Selects and our restaurants may run out this week.
"We are working incredibly hard to get this popular menu item back on sale in our restaurants.
"We know some customers will be disappointed to hear this news, and we would like to apologise for the short term inconvenience.”
