These were the crazy scenes at one Dublin McDonald's just minutes after it reopened its drive-thru service for the first time in two months.
The gargantuan fast-food chain announced that it would be opening up six of its Dublin stores today from 11am causing a social media frenzy.
One of the half a dozen Golden Arches to pop its head up this morning for the first time in eight weeks was Nutgrove in the sunny southside.
Within a matter of minutes after the clock striking 11am, an army of cars flocked to the Maccy D's there hoping to feast their eyes on a Big Mac or those famous golden fries once again.
And after one hour, a sea of vehicles had descended onto the car park area and flooded the main road with numbers only expected to get higher as the day goes on.
The other five stores reopened from today are: Kylemore Rd; East Wall; Artane; Malahide Rd and Tallaght - Drive Thru only from 11am-10pm.
It's by no means going to be business as usual though with the restaurant implementing a list of strict rules ahead of the reopening.
Here's all the information you need to know:
- Spending will be capped at Drive Thrus at €30 per car
- Fewer people in the kitchen and service areas, serving a reduced menu over reduced hours
- The use of contactless thermometers, with temperatures checked on arrival at work
- Perspex screens in key locations in the kitchen and service areas;
- Protective equipment for our people including gloves for customer and courier facing positions and face masks, but not the type needed by healthcare professionals;
- And additional training on cleanliness practices, including increased frequency of handwashing and extra sanitising of touchpoints around the restaurant
Agriculture Minister Michael Creed said: "McDonald’s is a valued key purchaser of Irish produce and an employer of a large number of people throughout Ireland.
"I therefore welcome today’s announcement that McDonald’s restaurants will begin a cautious reopening in Ireland from May 20 with a small number of restaurants opening as Drive Thru only at first.
"The last couple of months have been undoubtedly tough, both economically and socially, but the recent announcement from Government on the phased reopening of the country, offers reassurance and hope for brighter days ahead.
