A mum was left "terrified" after a busy McDonald's was targeted by a gang of yobs who smashed the windows.

The woman, who didn't want to be named, was visiting the Rice Lane restaurant at around 8pm on Saturday, January 25 and saw the damage.

Photos taken of the restaurant this morning show two of the windows were badly damaged, with large cracks where it looks like they were hit with an object.

Merseyside Police confirmed there was an incident at the Rice Lane McDonald's on Saturday night.

The mum, who saw the smashed windows, said customers who were inside the store at the time were left shaken by the incident.

She said: “There were a lot of people being turned away who were on foot and I think people need to be aware because it was disgusting. The lady at the door said the youths are there all the time.

“People need to know because if that is their child out they have cost thousands of pounds the windows were smashed and there were people inside terrified."

Speaking to the ECHO, she added: “I live in the area and I am just terrified thinking that it could be someone’s car next.”

She claimed the damage seemed to be conentrated close to the drive-thru area of the restaurant.

McDonalds were approached by the ECHO regarding the incident but declined to comment.
