McDonald's customers 'in tears' as UberEats problems stop them from ordering

Within minutes of McDonald's opening up for online orders again, customers were left "crying" with frustration by technical problems.

To try and keep up social distancing, as things stand, you can only order your Big Macs for delivery though Uber Eats.

But people who have had no problems doing so before hit a brick wall this morning, Essex Live reports.

One wrote: "What is going on? I’ve ordered from Chelmsford Riverside before and never been too far away and I literally just put in your OWN address and it says you’re too far away from your own restaurant."

Another frustrated customer wrote: "What’s the point in opening three McDonalds branches in Chelmsford for delivery then refusing to deliver cos it’s ‘too far away’, bearing in mind this is never an issue? So so so so so so upset literally crying."

Other had more luck, with huge demand resulting in delivery riders queueing round the block to pick up orders.

Replying to one Tweet a spokesperson from McDonald's said: "Some of our restaurants are currently experiencing very high levels of orders and may not be able to facilitate all delivery requests and deliveries may become temporarily unavailable.

"Please do check back soon on UberEats."

An Uber Eats spokeswoman told Mirror Money: “As some McDonald’s stores begin to reopen in the UK, demand is very high, and we urge customers to be patient as we work with McDonald's to help to ensure that orders are fulfilled.”

The good news for people not living near one of the first 15 restaurants to reopen today, is that 30 more will be up and running next week.

From 20 May the next phase in reopening will see drive throughs available again - although McDonald's hasn't yet revealed where these will be.

But even if one's not near you at first, you won't have long to wait for your Big Mac fix, with every single drive through location set to be open again by early June.

To check, you need to head to the restaurant locator on the McDonald's wesite.

But as things stand, you'll need to use Uber Eats, provided you live near enough one of the 15 locations now open.
