McDonald's customer horrified after 'finding dead insect in cheeseburger'

A McDonald's customer was disgusted to find that their burger appeared to have come with an extra ingredient - a dead insect.

The customer, who does not wish to be named, ordered a Big Tasty from the McDonald's restaurant in Parsonage Retail Park, Leigh, on Saturday evening (February 6).

Uber Eats delivered their order just after 9pm but after inspecting the burger, the customer says they were horrified to find an insect submerged in sauce, on the bun lid.

The customer threw their burger in the bin and shared images of the offending creature online, reports the Manchester Evening News.

They wrote: "McDonald’s Parsonage Retail Park, make sure you check inside your burgers, knocked me sick."

Following the incident, McDonald's confirmed that an investigation has been launched.

A spokesman said: “We are sorry to hear about this customer’s experience.

"Food safety is of the utmost importance to us and we place great emphasis on quality control, following rigorous standards to avoid any imperfections.

"We are disappointed that, on this occasion, this was not the case.

"As soon as this matter was brought to our attention, we apologised and started an investigation.

"We would encourage this customer to contact our Customer Services team to claim a refund and to discuss this matter in more detail, if they have not already done so."
