McDonald's customer 'bites into spider inside apple pie leaving her in tears'

A McDonald's customer claims she found a spider inside her apple pie - but only after biting off two of its legs.

Mum-of-one Rubeka Hussain said she burst into tears after realising what had happened and has been left "traumatised" following the alleged incident.

She claims her husband, Wasim Khan, bought the pie for her from a branch in Small Heath, Birmingham, while she was celebrating her 35th birthday last Thursday.

Rubeka, who was recently in the news complaining about a hotel stay, alleges she took a bite of the McDonald's pie - ripping off two of the spider's legs - and then spit out a mouthful, BirminghamLive reports.

She shared a photo which allegedly shows a spider inside a chunk of pastry and two legs attached to a flake.

Rubeka, who was eating the pie with ice cream, said she won't buy anything from McDonald's again.

She added: "The bite I took was still in my mouth and didn’t chew it.

I can see in the pictures.

"So I chucked it out and called my husband to see.

"I nearly ate a spider.

Customer service staff told her the claims would be investigated.

A McDonald's spokesperson said: "Food quality and safety are of the utmost importance to us and we place great emphasis on quality control, following rigorous standards in order to avoid any imperfections.

"Unfortunately it appears that on this occasion, these standards were not met.

"We’d like to apologise to the customer for their experience and understand they are currently in conversation with our customer services team who are working to find a resolution.”

Earlier this week, Rubeka complained to BirminghamLive about a family holiday in Turkey that allegedly went wrong.

She claims the family had booked a room at a five-star beach hotel, but when they arrived it was closed.

The mum alleges with a bright green, fly-infested pool which gave two-year-old daughter, Isla Khan, toddler an eye infection.
