McDonald's confirms its new breakfast menu - but some fans will be devastated

This week marks a momentous occasion, as McDonald's is finally bringing its much-loved breakfast back. Fantastic.

The fast food chain will be trialling its breakfast menu in 42 of its branches, and if successful, plans to roll it out across the country.

McDonald's has not yet revealed which stores will be trialling the breakfast menu - but there's not long left to wait - as the first trial will start on June 24.

However, if you're hoping to grab a bagel, porridge or a breakfast wrap you'll have to wait a bit longer, because for now, they've all been removed from the menu. Boooo.

In an email to customers, Paul Pomroy, chief executive officer for McDonald's UK and Ireland, said: "As with our main menu, we will have a limited menu at breakfast but we’ve kept the classics – hash browns, McMuffins and pancakes all return.

"Unfortunately, whilst adhering to social distancing guidelines, we are unable to serve porridge, bagels and our Breakfast Wrap.

"This is because we have fewer people in the kitchen."

He added: "Our opening hours will vary from restaurant to restaurant, so download the My McDonald’s App or check our website for details.

"We will share more information about the breakfast pilot and takeaway restaurants on Wednesday morning via our website, app and social media."
