McDonald's breakfast is returning but some popular items are missing as menu is confirmed

McDonald's bosses have confirmed what will be on its breakfast menu when it returns but some fans may be disappointed.

The fast food giant delighted fans last week when it finally reopened all of its drive-thrus meaning those in Merseyside could get their fix.

Due to social distancing measures and reduced staff drive-thrus are currently only serving a reduced main menu, with no breakfast items, shakes or wraps available.

However, over the weekend the date when McDonald's breakfast would return was confirmed as June 24 and today its menu was confirmed.

McDonald's will bring back McMuffins, bagels and hash browns on its breakfast menu on June 24, though only in a limited number of restaurants initially.

This means there will be no pancakes or bacon rolls available.

It hopes to extend the breakfast menu nationwide in July as part of its phased wider reopening.

McDonald's has also revealed some restaurants will be reopening their doors for walk-in customers from June 17.

The group said 11 restaurants in Roadchef service stations will open next Wednesday for takeaway and click-and-collect orders, allowing customers in for the first time since the lockdown in March.

If the trial is successful, it then aims to roll this out gradually to high streets, towns and city centre sites from June 24.
