McDonald's app 'hack' allows hungry customers to beat drive-thru queue

McDonald's has teamed up with I'm a Celebrity star and England rugby legend James Haskell to promote it's latest app 'hack'.

The new 'Click & Serve' function allows customers to swerve drive-thru queues on their way to their favourite meals.

Users can place their order via their phone before driving to their nearest restaurant - and then simply collect their food after pulling into a parking bay.

To spread the word, the fast food giant has recruited Haskell for a promotional video, making an 'underwhelming' pun on the star's name.

In the tongue-in-cheek video, he is 'caught' off-camera having a heated discussion with the director after being told he’s been asked to promote the new ‘hack’ because his name sounds a bit like hack-sell.

James Haskell said: “I’ve always had a lot of respect for McDonald’s, but this latest idea is a bit of a joke.

"My name doesn’t even sound like Hack-sell, but to be honest I’m glad it’s me doing it rather than some of the other rugby players they’ve worked with in the past.

"They’re in safe hands here.

"It’s sad because this Click & Serve function is actually really good.

"I’m sure people will find it incredibly useful if they want to avoid the Drive-thru queues, plus it’s great for a contact-free ordering experience.

"Just a shame they couldn’t think of a better idea to promote it.”

To try Click & Serve out for yourself and ‘hack’ the queues, simply place your order via the My McDonald’s App, drive to your local restaurant and park in the designated parking bays.

Within the app users can complete their order by entering their bay number.

Food will then be freshly prepared and delivered to the car window.

As well as contact-free ordering and payment via the app, whilst delivering the food, employees will be wearing a face covering and gloves whilst the food and drinks will be in takeaway bags on a tray to minimise any contact.

Click & Serve will be available in 970 Drive-Thrus across the UK and Ireland.
