McDonald's £4 breakfast menu shake-up to 'treat a hangover'

McDonald's new menu hits drive-thrus and restaurants in Nottingham today (November 23). It's a shake-up that some of the fast food giant's fans are welcoming as an antidote to the seasonal hangover.

When the burger chain announced that it would be altering its breakfast menu, some regulars to the venue were over the moon with the 'creative' menu change hailed as being ideal when dealing with Christmas party hangovers. However, like any change, others had their doubts about the move.

Up until January, Maccies will be adding the Mighty McMuffin to its menu. Just like it sounds, this is quite a handful. According to Manchester Evening News, the Mighty McMuffin comes with sausage, egg, bacon and cheese. You'll also get to choose if you want brown sauce or ketchup on your brekkie bun.

With a price tag of £3.99 on its own, or is £5.59 as part of a meal, shoppers soon reacted to the new menu item, which appears alongside some other festive treats. "This looks amazing," said one hungry Twitter user. While another added: "We’ve had that for years here in Australia. It’s good for hangovers."

Others joined in the conversation. One joked: "I’ve changed my mind about not having any fast food until February…" Someone else added: "How creative."

One social media user was disappointed though saying: "If you order a normal McMuffin you get the option to add extra bacon/sausage/sauce etc, so this is nothing new."

As well as McDonalds' festive breakfast offering, shoppers will also be able to try Celebrations McFlurry, costing £1.79 each, and the festive Big Tasty. Without bacon, the Big Tasty will cost £5.29 on its own or £6.89 as a meal. With bacon it will be £5.89 on its own or £7.49 as a meal.

Finally, McDonald's is re-releasing the Festive Pie, much to the relief of anyone with a sweet tooth. It's a Christmassy take on the food chain's classic hot crispy pie, but instead of apple, it's filled with mincemeat and custard. It's a must-buy for mince pie lovers and costs £1.29.
