NEW DELHI: MCD plans to start indoor patient facilities at two major hospitals, Balak Ram and Veer Savarkar Arogya Santhan, and at a primary healthcare centre at Fatehpur Beri in the next four months.
"Currently, there are seven major hospitals with fully operational OTs. However, three additional health facilities have been identified for upgradation now. While work on OTs at Balak Ram Hospital and the Fatehpur Beri centre will be completed through CSR funds in three months, MCD will fund the project at Veer Savarkar, so the process could take time," said an official.
The OTs will have 24*7 maternity services and MCD has allocated funds to the engineering department for the task and obtaining fire NOC. "The OTs will cater to surgeries for eyes, ENT and gynaecology," said the official.
A plan to convert Balak Ram Hospital into a 100-bed facility and starting OPDs in more specialities is also underway.
At present, Veer Savarkar Arogya Santhan has an OPD for medicine, surgery, ENT, eye, dental and gynaecology, with a labour room for normal deliveries, in addition to a chest clinic.
"The in-patient facility will be started after civil and electric work is finished so that a large number of people can access medical facilities," added the official.
MCD is also looking to strengthen manpower. "Recruitment through DSSB and contractual engagement/outsourcing of staff is under process," said the official.
"MCD has started a facility for e-OPD where people can register online and follow up their records. It has been extended to 188 health units," said the official.
