MCD productions sells millionth summer concert ticket as Spice Girls play at Croke Park, Dublin

A music promotions company has sold over one million tickets for open air gigs in Ireland this summer.

MCD production celebrated the sale of their one millionth 2019 outdoor concert ticket, as Spice Girls played to 75,000 fans at Croke Park.

Dina Macchia, who bought the milestone ticket, flew into Dublin from New York with friend Michelle Burke to see the pop icons.

MCD spokesman Denis Desmond said: "There's a wonderful list of artistes coming to Ireland this summer, all will deliver great shows and ensure those attending will have an enjoyable time."

The company said its concerts will generate over €500million for the Irish economy over a four month period.

MCD claim one in five tickets are purchased overseas, with tourists from 132 countries coming to Ireland to attend gigs.

The live entertainment industry is said to have generated over 11,000 jobs and it results in nearly one million bed-nights.

Upcoming open air shows will see the record attendance at concerts by such acts as Westlife, Bon Jovi, Fleetwood Mac and Metallica.
