McColls Easter giving tree is a treat for Dumbarton charity

Kindhearted Dumbarton residents helped donate Easter treats to a local women’s refuge with the help of a thoughtful High Street shop initiative.

Staff at newsagent McColls were delighted by the community response to their Easter giving tree, which saw shoppers donate chocolate goodies to Dumbarton District Women’s Aid (DDWA).

This is the latest in a line of charity efforts by the shop, who also donated proceeds of their Christmas giving tree to Food For Thought in St Augustine’s Episcopal Church.

Store manager Crawford Anderson, 33, said: “It was really amazing to see how generous the community can be.

“We had people of all ages making donations and we are really glad it will be going to the kids who are staying at the women’s refuge.

“We do things like this at Christmas too and we are always really pleased with the response we get from everyone.

“We like to be as involved in the community as we can.”
