John McCain's campaign has put out two new TV ads ("One Man" and "Live Free") that uses interview footage of the young McCain in a hospital bed as a prisoner-of-war after his plane was shot down over North Vietnam - a reminder that the Arizona senator spent several years as a POW.
When his North Vietnamese captors discovered that McCain was the son of a US Navy admiral, they offered to let him go. But McCain refused to take the offer unless the other men in the camp imprisoned before him were also released - a sacrifice that led him to spend five more years in the "Hanoi Hilton" of Hoa Lo prison.
