McArthurGlen East Midlands Designer Outlet shares April 12 reopening plans

Popular shopping destination East Midlands Designer Outlet has outlined its reopening plans for April 12, including limits on numbers and parking.

In line with the Government’s latest advice, on Monday April 12, the McArthurGlen outlet will be reopening its doors following the closure of non-essential retail.

Initially the centre, just off junction 28 of the M1, will re-open with restricted customer capacities and opening hours from 9am to 8pm, Monday to Saturday and 10am-6pm on Sundays.

The centre says it is continuing the increased cleaning of high touch point areas throughout with disinfectant including door handles, rest rooms and store entrances.

“We have been working hard behind the scenes to ensure that the centre is ready for re-opening,” said David Jackson, centre manager.

“The health and safety of our guests and staff is paramount - we pride ourselves in going above and beyond to ensure our customers visit is a safe and enjoyable one after the most recent closure of non-essential retail, and we will continue this after April 12. My team and I are looking forward to welcoming shoppers back."

The centre toilets will be cleaned every 30 minutes and hand sanitisers will be available for guests to use in common areas.

Clear markers outside of all stores will be visible to ensure social distancing is adhered to at all times; with a queue management system in place during peak shopping times and one-way systems to ensure a safe flow of visitor traffic throughout the centre.

Limit on centre guests to ensure social distancing

Capacity restrictions will be in place to manage the volume of guests visiting the centre, including a reduced number of car parking spaces available and to ensure minimal impact to the wider road network in and around the centre.

Social distancing and hygiene measures remain active ahead of the reopening, with markers to remind shoppers of the recommended 2-metre social distancing guidance.

New designer brands and food and beverage

East Midlands Designer Outlet confirmed that many of its food and drink outlets, including 200 Degrees, Costa Coffee, and Wagamama will also re-open from Monday April 12 offering takeaway-only services.

To help the centre to adhere to social distancing guidelines, any surrounding seating areas will remain closed.

Whilst customers will not be able to consume food and drink within the centre, additional outdoor seating has been provided within the gardens.

Brands including Barbour, Molton Brown and Under Armour are also due to re-open following their 2020 launch.

And the shopping centre said it is looking to introduce new labels following its reopening in the coming year - including popular burger restaurant Five Guys.
