Nov. 18--The Museum of Contemporary Art plans to offer a "smoother process for ticket buying" after tickets sold out Tuesday in 14 minutes for Neko Case and Run the Jewels appearances, amid complaints on social media about problems loading the museum's website.
"We are excited that both programs sold out in 14 minutes. However, we need to remedy the problem that impacted ticket buyers," museum director of communications Matthew Renton said in a statement to the Tribune. "With a new website, we are constantly working to improve the web experience for our visitors, and we will offer a smoother process for ticket buying next time."
Tickets went on sale at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday for the Dec. 9 Case talk and the Jan. 16 Run the Jewels event, both part of the museum's Pitchfork discussion series. Some social media users complained they had difficulty loading mcachicago.org.
Tickets for "Portlandia" star Carrie Brownstein's talk in October sold out in nine minutes in August amid site gripes from users. The museum unveiled a new website design last week that drew mixed reactions.
For those who did not get tickets to see the singer-songwriter Case or the hip-hop duo Run the Jewels, the museum offers a waitlist that begins one hour before a program starts. Available tickets are distributed on a first come, first served basis.
