May 03--Peter Taub, who for the last two decades has overseen the performance programming at the Museum of Contemporary Art, is stepping down, the museum announced Tuesday.
His resignation, effective June 3, ends a 20-year run at the institution during which Taub worked with everyone from cutting-edge theater and dance ensembles to musicians of every type, from Chicago and beyond.
Michael Darling, Alsdorf Chief Curator at the MCA, said in a statement, "We are very grateful for Peter's accomplishments over these past twenty years, he has been a dedicated champion of the performing arts at the museum. His work guiding the MCA Stage and leading the performance team has expanded the MCA's reputation in the area of music, dance, and theater."
Taub was there from the inauguration of the then-new building on East Chicago Avenue. It is not known why Taub decided to step down, but in a statement he said, "I'm gratified to have helped make the MCA into an essential platform for performing artists to develop their works, and for audiences to encounter their vital expressions. After two decades at the MCA, I am looking forward to pursuing new challenges ahead as I shift my focus to future projects."
