Mazda announces pricing and spec for the new CX-30 SUV

MAZDA has announced the price and specification of its new CX-30 compact SUV, which will arrive in the UK in January 2020.

Revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the CX-30 enters a new market segment for the brand, slotting into the Japanese car maker's SUV range between the CX-3 and CX-5.

The 26-model line-up will cost from £22,895 and features five grades and two petrol engines including Mazda's new SkyActiv-X spark controlled compression ignition system.

The 2.0-litre SkyActiv-X engine develops 180PS and gives diesel-like economy with emissions as low as 105g/km and WLTP combined economy as high as 47.9mpg. It will be priced from £24,375 in entry level SE-L trim and will top out at £31,295 for a GT Sport Tech model with automatic transmission.

All-wheel-drive models will also be available priced from £29,295. The rest of the CX-30 line up features Mazda’s 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G engine which develops 122PS and gives the car a 0-62mph time of 10.6 seconds compared with the 8.5 seconds of the SkyActiv-X models.

Fuel figures for the SkyActiv-G versions of the CX30 are a best of 45.6mpg with emissions of 116g/km.

As with the new Mazda3, the CX-30 features a colour windscreen projecting head-up display, radar cruise control and LED headlights as standard across the range.

Inside, premium dark grey cloth with navy blue accents is standard, while GT Sport and GT Sport Tech models feature black leather with brown accents. A stone coloured leather upholstery is a £200 option. Boot space on the CX-30 is 430 litres.

Jeremy Thomson, managing director of Mazda UK said: “This sector of the market is hugely competitive and vibrant in the UK, and we now have a class-leading contender that slots perfectly into the space between the CX-3 and CX-5.

“Like the all-new Mazda3, this is a car that demonstrates the new standards of style, quality and technology found in our next–generation models. It’s also great that the groundbreaking Skyactiv-X engine is available from launch, as its low CO2, excellent fuel economy and performance, delivers a superb combination of benefits to our customers”.
