Mayor warns Liverpool about booking beauty treatments during coronavirus lockdown

Joe Anderson has warned people across Liverpool not to book beauty treatments during the coronavirus lockdown.

The mayor has taken to Twitter once again to remind people that they can't socially distance in a salon or at home - and shouldn't be trying to continue their beauty regime.

In the tweet, Mayor Anderson addressed people's need to hold onto the "little things" that will be making them feel better at such a hard time but also made clear that attending a salon, or even someone's home, could be dangerous for everyone involved.

He said: "I know many are trying to hold on to the little things that make life easier during lockdown, but no-one should be booking beauty treatments at home.

"It's impossible to social distance in a salon *and at home*. Please think again."

Government guidelines have stated that beauty and nail salons, hairdressers and barbers, are not essential businesses and will need to remain closed until further notice.

The decision to close these businesses was made on March 23 as a measure to prevent the spread of coronavirus and save lives.

The majority of people replying supported the mayor's tweet and stressed that others need to follow the rules.

Twitter user @Keithha61273968 said: "I want to hug my daughters and I want to kiss my grandchildren.

"I want to be a family again. Stay in, save lives protect our health workers."
