- Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has rejected offers of "thoughts and prayers" after a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School resulted in the deaths of two children, aged eight and 10.
- Seventeen other individuals were injured in the attack, including 14 children and three adults, with two children critically wounded.
- The shooter died by suicide at the scene after firing multiple weapons, seemingly from outside the church.
- “Don’t just say this is about thoughts and prayers right now, these kids were literally praying,” the distraught mayor said. “It was the first week of school, they were in a church.”
- Police Chief Brian O’Hara condemned the incident as a "deliberate act of violence against innocent children," noting the shooter's "sheer cruelty and cowardice."
