Mayo service station closes temporarily due to impact of Covid-19 virus risk on staff

A local service station in Co Mayo has decided to close its doors temporarily due to the impact of Covid-19 on both its business and staff members.

The Management at a Corrib Oil Service Station in Ballinrobe have opted to close the shop for the time being, as the ongoing "Covid impacts" are having an adverse affect on the business.

Corrib Oil in Ballinrobe will close for what management is hoping will be a “limited period of time” due to the impact of the virus on members of their staff.

Last Sunday, the management released a statement saying that, "Unfortunately due to a COVID issue amongst some of our team we are taking the precautionary measure of closing our Deli tomorrow, Mon Apr 5th, to allow for deep cleaning and a full sanitisation of the area.

"This measure is being taken to uphold the safety of the business for both staff and customers. We regret the inconvenience that this may cause and we trust that you will bear with us while we take the necessary steps to protect all parties at this difficult time.

"Our Deli will reopen in the coming days so stay tuned for updates on our page.In the meantime, stay safe and adhere to the public health guidelines. "due to a Covid issue among staff members, they would be taking the precautionary measure of closing the deli in the store on Bank Holiday Monday for deep cleaning and full sanitisation."

However, the situation worsened during the week and the management team have released a further statement, saying that they were left with no other choice than to close the store temporarily in order to protect its staff members.

"As you know over the past few days we have been negotiating some COVID impacts on the business. During this time whilst our normal business was interrupted we tried to remain open and serve you our valued customer while working within the public health guidelines and protocols," the statement read.

"Unfortunately, the situation has further developed this evening and we now feel that the only alternative at this time to protect staff and customers is to close our doors. We hope this will be for a limited period and we will keep you posted.

"We apologies for the inconvenience that this decision may cause."
