Mayo footballer described as a mix of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and LeBron James after stunning goal goes viral

A Mayo footballer has been described as a mix of LeBron James, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo after his sensational goal went viral.

The strike scored by James Carr in the All-Ireland qualifiers against Galway last week has been shared around the world, with one Twitter user comparing him to some of the world's greatest athletes.

A Liverpool fan page on Twitter, Kenya LFC News, shared the clip to his followers and said: "If you ever wondered what would happen if we created a player that with LeBron James, Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi characteristics, we've finally got it.

"The complete player. People are asking about the sport, it's an Irish based Gaelic football."

An American user, Ashlie, said: "Gaelic football looks insane."

And South African native Willies Shabangu added: "Wish I knew what sport this is... I think I might be good at it."

Even Argentina's ESPN reported on the "golazo" saying: "The whole world is talking about this guy!"

The Ardagh man's stunning strike was one of two he scored in the win over Galway sending his team to the Super 8s with their first game against Kerry in Killarney on Sunday.
