The first stage of a project to provide more than 250 affordable homes for vulnerable Hunter families has taken a step towards completion.
Eve Apartments at Mayfield was topped out on Friday, with construction forecast for completion next year.
The development is a five-storey block of 36 one and two bedroom homes, which will home vulnerable families and frontline essential workers. Further homes will be built in Lake Macquarie and the Central Coast.
The project has been developed and funded by Centuria Capital Group, while MARS Building is completing the construction. Upon completion, the apartments will be operated by Compass Housing. The scheme is being delivered through the NSW Government's Social and Affordable Housing Fund program.
MARS Building director Michael Boyd said it was an honour to be a part of the initiative. "The world is going through a shift, and together we need to ensure we look after our most vulnerable and frontline essential workers in our community," he said.
