HOT and windy conditions didn't deter about 300 visitors from the Sultan Fatih Mosque at Mayfield's open day, although changes were made to the program to offer relief from the warm weather.

Organiser Forugh Dorani said passers-by started arriving an hour before the event began on Saturday.

Visitors, including many who brought young children, travelled from as far away as Muswellbrook and were of all and no religions.

He said they provided "lots of positive feedback", including that they'd learned a lot and could see similarities between Islam and other religions.

"It's not about conversion, it's about building relationships so we can live in harmony," he said.

"We're open to criticism, as long as it is unbias and respectful.

"We're open every day, you can come in any time with questions or say hi."
