'Maybe I was wrong with the changes' - Every word of Nottingham Forest boss Sabri Lamouchi's post-Wigan press conference

Sabri Lamouchi tasted defeat on the road in the Championship for the first time as Nottingham Forest manager on Sunday afternoon.

Lamouchi’s promotion challengers were beaten 1-0 at Wigan Athletic to make it eight games without victory at the home of the Latics.

Jamal Lowe’s 35th-minute goal was enough to record a valuable success for Paul Cook’s men, denying Forest the chance to go back to the top of the league.

Chances came and went for the Reds on an afternoon of frustration in Lancashire, which also saw Lamouchi pick up a first-half yellow card from referee Matt Donohue.

And speaking pitchside after the game, a visibly frustrated Lamouchi gave his lowdown...

On missing the chance to go top

"If you analyse the game, especially the first half hour, we started in the right way, but we made one mistake. We gave them the opportunity to score and they scored.

"After that, we created a lot of opportunities, but we missed them all. If you don't score a goal then you have no chance of winning a game.

"Maybe a draw would have been more logical a result, but congratulations to Wigan."

On making five changes to the side which beat Brentford and leaving out Lewis Grabban

“Maybe I was wrong with the changes, but I trust in everyone.

"I have a lot of confidence in all of my players and it was tactical choices, but in the game on the pitch we missed a lot. The result is clear.

“I made some changes, we tried a lot offensively.

“When you play two games at home, you need to be fresh and we have three games in six days so we don’t have a lot of options. With Grabban, it was clear that I needed to think about all games not just this one.

"I took some choices and I have this responsibility; I don’t have any problem with that.”

On his impressive goalkeeper, Brice Samba

“Maybe, without one or two big saves from Brice, Wigan could have closed the game before.

“But we had chances to come back in the game and we didn’t take it.”

On being booked in the first half

“I was a little bit angry about one pass missed from my players, not about the referee,” he said.

“The fourth official called the referee and he gave me a yellow card.

“It is nothing.”
