Mayawati hints at SP-BJP collusion behind SP loss at Rampur bypoll

LUCKNOW: Three days after the results for bypolls for Mainpuri parliamentary seat and Rampur Sadar and Khatauli ssembly seats were declared, BSP chief Mayawati has hinted at a tacit understanding between SP and BJP, which, she said in a tweet on Sunday, could be the reason behind Samajwadi Party's loss in Rampur bypolls.

She didn't stop at that and said that Muslims need to be wary of being cheated again, in coming elections.

"Samajwadi Party's win in Mainpuri and the first ever loss in Azam Khan's special seat, Rampur, due to lesser voter turnout, which seemed planned, has given rise to doubts if could be the outcome of connivance between SP and BJP", she said.

Taking Azam Khan's name was her bid to reach out to Muslim voters, as she further said that this is what Muslims need to mull over and understand.

The bypolls for Mainpur Lok Sabha seat and Rampur Sadar and Khatauli assembly seats were held on December 5. The results were declared on December 8.

Mainpuri seat was won by SP's Dimple Yadav by a massive margin while BJP's Akash Saxena won Rampur Sadar seat.

Mayawati said that it is even the loss of BJP in Khatauli which is doubtful. Khatauli was won by RLD-SP candidate Madan Bhaiya.
