Mayawati calls national-level meeting of BSP on December 10 post assembly results in four states

LUCKNOW: After facing a debacle in the assembly elections in the four states, results for which were declared on Sunday, and where the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) contested on most of the seats, BSP national president Mayawati has called a national-level meeting of the party in Lucknow on December 10 to take stock of the "ground realities" and "start afresh" the preparations for Lok Sabha elections 2024 after discussions with the party leaders and office-bearers from all over the country.

She said that the 'Ambedkarwadi' movement will never run out of steam and move ahead undeterred. Mayawati said in a series of social media posts on Monday that it is natural for everyone to be left stunned, worried and doubtful of the one-sided results of the assembly elections, which have favoured only one party. She called the results "strange" and difficult for people to understand.

"During the entire election period, it was a very different atmosphere, where it seemed to be a neck-to-neck contest, but the results becoming one-sided is such a mystery, that calls for a serious concern and solution. It has started a discussion on a big failure to read people's pulse."

The people of BSP contested the elections with full might, which made the contest interesting but they should not be disappointed with the "strange" results that have come, she said, adding that the party people should draw inspiration from the struggles of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar and keep moving ahead.
