Mayank Yadav picked for Bangladesh T20Is

KANPUR: With an eye on building a strong pool of pacers, Mayank Yadav has been picked for the T20I series against Bangladesh starting in Gwalior on Oct 6. TOI had reported about his chances of getting selected on Saturday.

The team has been picked on expected lines, with all Test players being rested. Suryakumar Yadav has been retained as the captain and no vice-captain was announced even though Hardik Pandya was named in the squad. It should be noted Pandya was captaining the T20 side till last year before Rohit Sharma came back into the format and eventually led India to the T20 World Cup triumph in June.

Mayank has been identified as one for the future and the BCCI has taken it upon itself to look after his fitness. Another interesting addition to the team is Nitish Reddy. He is being touted as the next big seam-bowling allrounder after Hardik Pandya. He has particularly impressed everyone with his performance in the last IPL.

Varun Chakravarthy, who played a key role in Kolkata Knight Riders' IPL triumph under the mentorship of current India coach Gautam Gambhir, has also made a comeback.

India's squad for 3 T20Is against Bangladesh: Suryakumar Yadav (C), Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk), Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Riyan Parag, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Mayank Yadav
