Maya Jama lifts lid on what Love Island viewers didn't see during explosive recoupling

Love Island viewers were at the edge of their seats as Maya Jama returned for the nail-biting Casa Amor recoupling on Wednesday, July 5. Over the last three episodes, the Islanders have been split in two, with the girls getting to know six new bombshells in Casa Amor, while the boys have been joined by a line-up of new girls in the main villa.

But on Wednesday it was crunch time, with the Islanders gathering around the fire pit for the verdict. As Maya arrived she told the Islanders they would have to decide to stick with their current partners or twist and couple up with someone new.

Following an intense recoupling, only one original couple remained together. Both Leah Taylor and Montel McKenzie decided to stick with one another, despite Montel getting closer to Tink Reading, who was axed from the villa alongside Gabby Jeffery, Danielle Mazhindu, Benjamin Noel and Kodie Murphy, after confronting Montel over his actions.

Meanwhile, it was heartbreak for Welsh footballer Scott Van Der Sluis who decided to stick with Catherine Agbaje, but was left single when she returned with Elom Ahlijah-Wilson. Tyrique Hyde found himself in the same predicament, after deciding to wait for Ella Thomas, who brought back Ouzy See.

Kady McDermott was also left single after Zacharaiah Noble recoupled with Molly Marsh who made a shock return to the villa as a Casa Amor bombshell. You can see the Casa Amor recoupling results in full here.

While there were many emotionally tense moments, there were also of plenty awkward interactions and snide comments as new couples formed and others were left behind. And following the dramatic episode, many have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts with presenter Maya.

One said: "Idk how @MayaJama didn't laugh throughout this whole recoupling OMG. Responding, Maya reminded viewers they don't see everything, as she wrote back: "l be real there was some unseen laughs but the drama had to be kept up, also could have shed a tear at the end."

Another asked: "How do you keep a straight face? I would have gasped, jaw dropped, and had eyes bugging out!" Replying, Maya said: "Trust me I feel you! You don’t see all my reactions."
