Maya Jama hits back at trolls after Love Island picture sparks dating rumours

Maya Jama has hit back at trolls on Twitter after pictures of her and Love Island star surfaced on social media.

The Bristol-born former Radio 1 DJ had been pictured with Love Island star Wes Nelson on Instagram, leading some to believe they had coupled up.

The post drew attention from thousands of his followers and one user screenshotted the comments writing: "Maya Jama is a prime example of you can’t have boys mates without instantly everyone thinking you’re shagging."

Maya herself then quoted the user's tweet and said: "Oh honey it’s been this way. This is after he was on my team for a TV show but I've learnt even if I stood there with a sign on my head saying PRESENTER AT WORK if I’m next to a man people will act like I linked him down the road for a snog."

She added: "It is a bit f***** when I think about it, I'll be doing my job minding my business, and next thing you know I’m on a blog with a 12 year old debating how many men I’ve been with from selfies they’ve seen."

Maya has been linked to Stefan-Pierre Tomlin after pictures surfaced of them appearing to leaving Radio 1 studios, which she claimed were photoshopped.

She said at the time: "Surely there’s laws against this?! this is pathetic, you’ve photoshopped me leaving my JOB today at Radio 1 alone with a random person leaving separately??? How is that allowed?"

Maya Jama is currently the host of the TV show 'Peter Crouch: Save Our Summer'.

She previously hosted a Radio 1 show on Fridays and Saturday mornings, but left the station in May to focus on new projects.

Earlier this year she returned to Cotham School, where she was a pupil, as part of a campaign involving Cosmopolitan Magazine and the Department for Education.
