May is FINALLY going to get a lot warmer next week

It's going to start to feel a lot more like spring in Manchester next week.

After a miserable start to May and a chilly bank holiday, temperatures are going to gradually start to rise from Monday.

The Met Office predicts it could reach 20 degrees on Monday, with temperatures expected to slowly rise over the rest of the week.

There could be a cold start to this weekend to get through first through, particularly overnight.

There is also a chance of scattered showers on Saturday, but Sunday is likely to be a dry day.

Luke Miall from the Met Office said: "It's going to take a while but it is improving.

"The driest day will be Sunday.

"Saturday morning could start off frosty, which is not unusual, but getting less common for this time of year.

"Temperatures could be two or three degrees in the city, and closer to freezing in the suburbs.

"High pressure is building over the weekend and that looks like it's going to last for the start of the week."

The weather is expected to improve at the start of next week, as warmer air blows in from the south, with temperatures becoming more normal for this time of year.

Luke added: "It's difficult to know the exact temperature but we could be looking at temperatures of 20 degrees on Monday, increasing slightly throughout the week.

"After what has been a cold start to May it will improve quite a lot."

The rest of this week meanwhile, is expected to bring more rain, and stay on the cool side.
