May Day Bank Holiday weekend events in and around Swansea

May Day Bank Holiday has arrived.

And you may be pleased to know that there's plenty of things happening in Swansea to keep you busy.

From theme parks to a food festival there's something for all ages to enjoy.

Here are just some of the best bank holiday events happening in and around the city this weekend.

Swansea Pride

Swansea Pride 2018 (Robert Melen)

It's pride in Swansea this weekend.

The main festival will take place on Saturday 12pm to 5pm  following a parade which starts at 11am .

There will be live entertainment and a food festival throughout the day.  There will also be evening entertainment from 5pm where you can carry on the celebrations at multiple venues including Wind Street and High Street.

There'll also be an event called ‘Pride & Faith’, an interfaith LGBTQ + service of celebration as part of Swansea Pride, held at Swansea Unitarian Church on Sunday  at 2pm.

Inflatable theme park

Why not take the kids to England's biggest travelling inflatable theme park which features an inflatable village, bungee trampolines, a 'wipeout' area and a 100ft-long Noah's Ark.

The inflatable theme park features around 15-20 inflatables, which includes a 50ft high slide, 35ft inflatable helter skelter and a play centre. The theme park is currently in Swansea after arriving last weekend.

The inflatables are appropriate for children between the ages of 2 and 14. The site has limited capacity, so guests will be let in on a first-come first-serve basis.

Legendary days

Legendary days at Oystermouth Castle (Swansea council)

Legends, creepy creatures and crafty fun will all be on the line-up this weekend.

Oystermouth Castle will see one of the great Arthurian legends - the Sword in the Stone - given a twist or two in a special mini family-friendly parody.

The Sword in the Stone - A Parody features some of the finest moments from the stories of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table, whose legends were being told from around the 12 century when Oystermouth Castle was first built. Performances will take place at 11.30am and 3pm.

Swansea Street Food Festival

The popular Swansea Food Festival is returning for a third year. 

The festival will offer an outstanding range of different and mouthwatering food, from chargrilled chicken souvlaki and tantalizing tacos to spicy Malaysian Curry and crunchy, doughy churros.

The festival is running from 12pm to 10pm.

Slime Workshop - Glow In The Dark

Looking for something to do with the children?

A workshop dedicated to slime will be here this weekend and it's all about having fun and being creative by using lots of colours, glitters, scents, beads and more.

May Day Bank Holiday weekend events in and around Cardiff  

Swansea vintage car show & family fun day

Swansea vintage car show & family fun day will be held at Singleton Park (www.adrianwhitephotography.co.uk)

It's the 34th year of the Vintage Car Show which proudly showcases all of the local communities vintage vehicles.

There will also be a fun fair, dinosaur and transformer show, vintage and local food stalls as well as free parking at Bishopgore School.

It all kicks from 10am.
