May Day Bank Holiday DIY store closing times for Wickes, B&Q, Argos and more

With the first May Bank Holiday weekend upon us, now is the perfect time to get any DIY projects done or spruce up your garden ahead of summer.

Those planning to do some home improvements on the bank holiday Monday (April 3) will likely need to head into their local home or garden store for supplies.

Thankfully, most major DIY stores will be opening their doors on May Day - but it's best to check timings before you head out.

See below for a full breakdown of opening times for all major DIY and home stores in the UK including B&Q, Argos and Wickes.

Wickes

There are currently more than 230 Wickes stores across the UK.

Wickes stores are set to be open on the bank holiday Monday, but there is a limit on how customers are allowed in-store at one time due to the coronavirus pandemic.

  • Saturday May 1 - most stores will be open from 7am to 8pm.
  • Sunday May 2 - most stores will be open from 7am to 8pm.
  • Monday May 3 - most stores will be open from 7am to 8pm.

B&Q

Here's what you need to know (Reuters)

All B&Q stores across England have now reopened following the easing of restrictions.

On bank holiday Monday, opening times may vary from store to store, so be sure to check the B&Q website for specific timings.

  • Saturday May 1 -most stores will be open between 8am and 8pm.
  • Sunday May 2 -most stores will be open between 10am and 4pm.
  • Monday May 3 - most stores will be open between 8am and 8pm.

Argos

Most Argos stores will remain open over the bank holiday, but times can vary by the individual store.

  • Saturday May 1 - most stores will be open from 9am to 7pm.
  • Sunday May 2 - most stores will be open between 10am and 5pm.
  • Monday May 3 - stores will be open but opening times may vary from store to store - be sure to check specific timings online.

Halfords

Halfords stores across the UK are currently open with continued safety measures rules in place.

  • Saturday May 1 - most stores will be open from 8am to 6pm.
  • Sunday May 2 - most stores will be open from 10am to 5pm.
  • Monday May 3 - some stores will be operating reduced hours - check specific timings online before heading out.

You can double check times for your local Screwfix online (Cynon Valley Leader)

The majority of Screwfix stores will be operating normal hours over the Bank Holiday. The retailer is also processing Click & Collect orders for safe contactless pick up at store.

  • Sunday May 2 - normal opening hours apply.
  • Monday May 3 - most stores in the UK will be open as normal.
