The Bank Holiday is here, and us lucky Brits have an extra day to enjoy the sun, catch up with friends and family and do whatever we damn well please.
But whatever you've got planned you'll want to make sure you have everything you need, because let's face it no one wants a mad dash to your local supermarket.

When do the supermarkets open on May Day Bank Holiday?
Waitrose
- All Waitrose shops will trade normal hours on Saturday and Sunday.
- On the Early May bank holiday Monday (6th May), the majority of Waitrose supermarkets will be open from 09:00 - 18:00 with some opening from 08:00-20:00 (and a few 10:00-16:00). The majority of Little Waitrose convenience shops will trade normal hours on the early May bank holiday.

Tesco
- Saturday 4 May: Open as Normal
Sunday 5 May: Open as Normal
Monday 6 May: Stores in England and Wales open 9am - 6pm, All Express stores open usual hours, Tesco Extras and Superstores in Northern Ireland open 10am - 7pm. Tesco Extras and Superstores in London open 8am to 8pm. Tesco Extra stores in Scotland are open as normal. Selected Superstores open 8am - 8pm. Tesco Metro stores open 9am - 6pm.

Sainsbury's
- Saturday 4 May: Open as normal
- Sunday 5 May: Open as normal
- Monday 6 May: Stores will open with reduced hours but will vary from store to store, you can check times here.

Saturday 4 May - normal opening hours for all UK stores.
Sunday 5 May - normal opening hours for all UK stores.
Monday 6 May - all UK stores will open from 8am to 8pm.

- Saturday 4 May - normal opening hours for all UK stores.
- Sunday 5 May - normal opening hours for all UK stores.
- Monday 6 May - all UK stores will open from 8am to 8pm.

Saturday 4 May - all UK stores open normal hours.
Sunday 5 May - all UK stores open normal hours.
Monday 6 May - stores in Scotland will operate normal opening hours. But stores across England, Wales and Northern Ireland will operate shorter opening times from 8am to 8pm. Check asda.com for details of your local branch.
