NEW DELHI: Swashbuckling Glenn Maxwell came up with an insane batting carnage, smashing a breathtaking 52-ball 90 in Melbourne Stars’ stunning win over Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League on Sunday.

In the Melbourne derby, an unstoppable Maxwell, hit the Renegades bowlers left, right and centre in his unbelievable freak show at the Marvel Stadium.

The Stars were down and out, reeling at 75 for 7 after being sent in to bat but Mad-Max explosive batting turned the match on its head as he single-handedly lifted the side to a competitive total of 165.

On his way to a stunning 90-run blitz, Maxwell hit 10 sixes and 4 fours and his knock came at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 173.07.

In his miraculous knock, Maxwell also hit one six that went 122 metres and into the second tier in the stands.

Maxwell seemed destined for a well-deserved century but his surreal knock ended when he chopped on to Kane Richardson on the first ball of the last over.

The Maxwell stunner in Melbourne showed glimpses of his iconic double-century against Afghanistan in the 2023 World Cup, where he single-handedly pulled off a stunning win for his national side.

Stunned by the Maxwell carnage on Sunday, Renegades never recovered and were shot out for 123 in their chase of 166.
