Maxol in Dolphin's Barn, Dublin offering free hot drinks, sandwiches and shelter for homeless during Storm Dennis weather

In an amazing gesture of kindness, a busy Dublin shop is offering free drinks and sandwiches during Storm Dennis.

Maxol in Dolphin's Barn has said that anyone stuck in the area should come into the shop for shelter where the staff will look after them until the storm is over.

Met Eireann has said that "damaging" Dennis "will bring wet and very windy weather this weekend and into Monday adding that "there is a risk of flooding and damaging gusts".

More weather warnings are expected throughout the weekend as the storm gets worse.

The shop said that they had feared that the storm would be the same if not worse than last week and wanted to help.

They said: "We are offering free hot drinks and sandwiches to the homeless and shelter from the weather during Storm Dennis.

"So spread the word if you know of anyone stuck without shelter around the Crumlin/Dolphin's Barn area.

"Point them in our direction where our staff will look after them until the storm passes."

There will be outbreaks of heavy rain for much of the weekend which will become increasingly wet and windy.

There will be severe and damaging gusts with thunderstorms and localised flooding expected.

The rain will continue for a time tonight and will be heavy at times with a continued risk of flooding.
