Maximum Football Update Improves Run Blocking, Coverage Alignment and More

A new hotfix is available for Maximum Football to clean up several issues that popped up after last week’s title update. It fixes playbooks getting mixed up in multiplayer, depth charts not working right and defenders giving up on plays after a catch.

Some quirks with audibles, play filters and CPU teams using the wrong playbooks have also been addressed. Run blocking has been rebalanced a bit and a few pre-snap adjustment bugs that were causing offsides have been sorted out. Man coverage after no-huddle has been tightened up and the profanity filter received a few more tweaks. Check out the full patch notes below.

  • Fixed an issue where MPL playbooks could be incorrectly swapped between home and away teams in multiplayer matches.
  • Fixed an issue where the MPL depth chart did not function correctly in multiplayer matches.
  • Fixed a bug where defenders would stop pursuing after a catch instead of continuing to chase the receiver.
  • Fixed the “Play Type” filter in play selection not working correctly.
  • Fixed an issue where audibling from a Gun formation play to a QB Kneel could result in losing the ability to snap/audible.
  • Fixed CPU-controlled teams using incorrect playbooks.
  • Tweaked offensive line run blocking strength for improved balance.
  • Fixed an issue where “Show Blitz” and “Base Align” adjustments could cause offsides.
  • Fixed man coverage alignment issues after no-huddle offense.
  • Added further tweaks to the profanity filter whitelisting.

The July title update brought a big shift to CPU playcalling. The old system felt too scripted, so it’s been replaced with a smarter, more dynamic approach. The CPU now takes different factors into account, adjusting to the flow of the game and making decisions that feel more authentic.

Player movement also got an upgrade with new animations that improve how players accelerate and change direction. It’s a subtle change that makes a big difference, especially on plays like screens where receivers now move more fluidly after the catch instead of coming to a complete stop.

Blocking saw some key improvements as well. Offensive linemen are now more aware of the pocket and where the quarterback is which helps them stay in position and avoid drifting toward defenders they don’t need to chase.

Franchise mode is still in the works, but the team offered a quick look at what’s coming. Each team will have a full coaching staff, including coordinators with their own specialties, plus support roles like scouts, marketers and accountants. Players from Dynasty mode will also be available as draft prospects once Franchise goes live. More info is expected as the mode gets closer to launch.
