Maximum Football’s next update is set to arrive on September 16, launching alongside Season 4. The team shared the news in their latest developer blog, noting that the extra time will allow them to polish the update while still leaving room for hotfixes or balance tweaks in the meantime.
The update brings several gameplay adjustments, starting with a revamped playcalling system featuring smarter fourth-down logic, an improved two-minute offense and better no-huddle decisions. Gameplay balance is also being adjusted with changes to game speed, ball speed and play outcomes to create a more realistic feel while limiting exploitable plays.
AI behavior is being upgraded with a vision-cone system so defenders can only make plays on the ball if they can see it, cutting down on unrealistic interceptions. Option plays are finally making their way into the game as well, rolled out in phases to ensure they’re properly balanced and animated. The long-term plan includes RPOs, triple options, read options, speed options and more, supported by mechanics like manual handoffs, pitches and pre-snap motions.
Rounding things out, the team is working on adding false start penalties after recently implementing offsides and fake snap mechanics, with new animations in development to cover different scenarios.
