Max Power's classy farewell to Sunderland fans after release

Max Power has taken to social media to issue a classy and emotional farewell to Sunderland fans.

The former Black Cats captain thanked fans for their support stating it was "a huge honour and privilege" to have worn the captains armband.

The 27-year-old was one of seven players to have been released by the club as Lee Johnson begins to implement his own mark on the squad.

Taking to Instagram, the former Sunderland captain said: "A huge thanks to everyone at Sunderland for the last three years.

"To captain this club was a huge honour and privilege. To the fans, thank you for your support, I understand how much this club means to you and I’m sorry we weren’t able to achieve promotion in my time here.

"I've loved my time here and met some great people. I wish nothing but the best for the club moving forward and hope it’s not too long until it’s back where it belongs."

Power made just shy of 100 appearances for the Wearsiders in three years at the club, scoring nine goals.
