Max Power is hoping he can add more goals to his game for Sunderland this season - but says he is happy to do whatever job for the team that new manager Phil Parkinson sees fit.
Power struck twice last month as the midfielder enjoys a fine run of form in the Black Cats first team. His league strike against MK Dons won the League One Goal of the Month award, and he's already halfway towards equalling last season's tally of goals.
He captained the Black Cats on Tuesday evening against his former side Tranmere Rovers, but with new manager Parkinson deploying his forward four to be so attack-minded, Power was asked to be a bit more considered in his attacking focus.
And while he hopes he can get more goals to help improve the Black Cats' standing in the league table (now seventh), he's happy to be a team player and do whatever job Parkinson wants of him.
He said: "It's not something that I have hid away from that I have wanted to score goals, and I have been working really hard on it in training. If I can add that to my game I will be really happy.
"The strike against Sheffield United was good, but I think I preferred my one against MK Dons as it was struck so perfectly.
"But the goals don't really matter, it is important winning games and making sure that I contribute to the team in whatever way I can.
"I am a team player and I will do whatever is asked of me, so if the new manager wants me to play deeper or further forward, I am more than happy to do it.
"I will always look to adapt and put the team first. We want to get out of this league and the only way to do that is to put a good run of results together."
Power and Sunderland will be hoping to follow Tuesday night's emphatic 5-0 victory over Tranmere with an away win Shrewsbury on Saturday.
