Max Meyer sends classy message to Crystal Palace fans after his January exit

Max Meyer has thanked the Crystal Palace fans after leaving the club by mutual consent.

It was confirmed by Palace last night that the 25-year-old had left the club, having had just six months remaining on his contract with the Eagles after signing a three-year deal when joining on a free transfer in August 2018.

The German midfielder has found his opportunities limited at Palace in recent seasons, with his only appearance for the club in the 2020/21 campaign coming in the Carabao Cup against Bournemouth.

Since joining the club, the former Schalke midfielder has played 56 times for Palace, but has struggled to cement a place in the side, with his number of appearances decreasing in each season with the Eagles.

He has rarely featured in matchday squads this season though, and has now departed the club, with his contract set to expire in the summer, having signed a three-year deal back in August 2018.

But the German has taken to social media to reflect on his time at Palace, with Meyer sending a message to Eagles fans.

Writing on Instagram, he said: "Certainly not all went the way I wanted it to go, but I would like to say thank you to @cpfc, all #cpfc players and especially to the amazing supporters.

"You guys made me feel home in London for the past 2.5 years and I will never forget this! Now I am really looking forward what‘s next."

He has been linked with a return to Germany, with his former club Schalke and FC Koln both named among the potential suitors for Meyer.
