Max Lowe's first words after Nottingham Forest transfer - with question on Derby County

Max Lowe says there will be no question where his loyalties now lie, as he could make his Nottingham Forest debut against former club Derby County.

The left-back has joined the Reds on a season-long loan from Sheffield United, and is available for selection in Saturday lunchtime’s crunch clash at Pride Park.

Lowe came up through the ranks at the Rams and made close to 50 appearances for the club, before switching to Bramall Lane last September.

He has not featured for his parent team this term, though, and could get his first minutes of the campaign when Chris Hughton’s men face their arch-rivals.

“This was an opportunity I couldn't turn down,” Lowe told the club website of his decision to put pen to paper.

“After speaking to the manager, it was a no brainer. As a player, you get that feel and move into a club and it felt comfortable. And I'm happy to be here and get started.

“I want to be a regular in the team and help the team get wins and climb up the table.”

When asked about Saturday’s match at Derby, Lowe said: “I know the rivalry very well but I know what shirt I have on this season and I'm proud to be here and will give it my all.”

The 24-year-old, who has been handed the number 15 shirt, is Forest’s fifth signing of the summer, with further additions expected before next Tuesday’s deadline.

His arrival helps to solve a problem position for the Reds, with options at left-back having been in desperately short supply.

Lowe has plenty of experience in the second tier and featured eight times in the Premier League last season, while he had loan spells at Shrewsbury Town and Aberdeen earlier in his career.

“I am delighted to get another signing with Championship experience in Max,” said Hughton.

“He is at a good age and is in a position where we need competition. He still has some development in him and I am looking forward to working with him over the season.”
