Max Kellerman piles on ‘game manager’ Tom Brady after Giants win

Patriots quarterback Tom Brady passed for 334 yards and rushed for a pair of touchdowns in a 35-14 home win over the Giants that pushed New England to 6-0 on the season.

According to ESPN’s Max Kellerman, who has repeatedly reduced Brady a “game manager,” the 42-year-old’s performance was just further proof that Brady may only be the “10th best” QB in 2019.

“Maybe the reason Tom Brady is forced to be a game manager is he doesn’t have the offensive weapons in terms of receivers that he sometimes has. No Antonio Brown. Josh Gordon isn’t simply this phenom that he was as a rookie. Edelman has been hurt, even when he plays he’s the only reliable target. There’s no reliable tight end target…. But hold on, slow up. Isn’t Tom Brady the guy who can turn any average receiving corps into stars? Don’t we always say [that]?

…. Just to show you what I mean, who’s the best quarterback in football? Who are we talking about? Mahomes. ‘Is Deshaun Watson as good as Mahomes? Is Aaron Rodgers good as Mahomes?’

When was the last time you heard someone bring up Tom Brady’s name as in the conversation for MVP, or the best quarterback in football? Is he the 10th best? Something like that, would you say?”

Kellerman famously predicted in 2016 that Brady was on the verge of falling off a cliff, and that the QB would become “a bum in short order.” Since then, Brady’s played in three Super Bowls and added two rings to his collection. That’s a pretty decent record for a “game manager.”
