Max Kellerman on Antonio Brown: ‘He comes off as desperate’

Antonio Brown made a weird plea for the New England Patriots to take him back on Wednesday.

Brown went to Instagram and said that the Patriots still have to pay him, so they might as well let him earn it. New England released Brown after he was accused of sexual assault in multiple cases. Brown’s contract included $10 million in guaranteed money — the Patriots elected not to pay it — and he filed a grievance against the team.

He went to Twitter shortly after being released and claimed that he was done with the NFL. Brown is unemployed and seems to be looking for another gig in the league, and ESPN’s Max Kellerman says this looks desperate on “First Take.”

“He comes off as desperate,” Kellerman said. “Desperate for attention, for relevance, for options in his career, for social currency. It comes across as desperate. First of all, implicit in his claim is that he’s going to win. I don’t know if that’s a certainty that he’ll get his money. So, he’s putting the cart before the horse there.”

The Patriots could use Brown’s services, but it’s very unlikely that they actually take him back. Currently, the team is dealing with an injured Julian Edelman, Phillip Dorsett and Josh Gordon. The only healthy receivers are Jakobi Meyers and Gunner Olszewski. Regardless, the Patriots are 5-0 and feature a historically good defense. They don’t need any more distractions with Brown.

This a Max Kellerman take that Patriots fans can agree with.
