Max George surprises female Strictly stars with very generous gifts after live show

As Strictly Come Dancing returned for its nerve-jangling first live show of 2020, emotions were understandably running high among the contestants back stage.

In a bid to cool the tension, it has been revealed that boy band star Max George decided to treat his co-stars to a very thoughtful gift after filming wrapped.

Speaking on her BBC Radio One show today, Strictly's Clara Amfo told listeners how The Wanted singer treated all the female contestants and professionals to a huge bouquet of flowers after the show went off air.

Clara, who is dancing with Aljaz Skorjanec , described 'very lovely' moment she returned to her dressing room to find the special delivery from Max.

"A really lovely thing happened this week. I wanna big up lovely Max George," Clara began.

"He was so sweet... he went and got a bouquet of flowers for every single girl in the competition. Which I think is just really lovely."

She went on: "We all came back to our dressing rooms to find big, beautiful bouquets from Max. Which for me gets 10s across the board."

The radio host finished up sixth on the leaderboard overall with a score of 18 for her Cha Cha, while boyband star Max was a point behind her after being awarded 17 for his Tango with Dianne Buswell.

Some Strictly Come Dancing 2020 viewers were not happy with judge Craig Revel Horwood (BBC)

The first scoreboard of 2020 caused some controversy among viewers, with many expressing their outrage with Clara's marks.

Fans accused the judges of severely under-marking her routine particularly Craig Revel Horwood's paltry 'five'.

Craig called it 'stompy' and told Clara "technically it was poor. Time to improve.'

Despite the backlash, Clara said wasn't too put off by Craig's harsh critique as having a dance savaged by him was part of the 'Strictly experience'.

"I live for the Craig shame," she told her listeners. "It felt good. It felt like I'm really doing it," she laughed.
