Max Garcia activated from PUP, Clinton McDonald to IR, Zach Brown released

The Arizona Cardinals announced three roster moves on Wednesday as they returned to practice. They activated offensive lineman Max Garcia from the physically unable to perform list, where he has been since the start of training camp. They had to make a corresponding move and they made two. They placed defensive lineman Clinton McDonald on injured reserve and released linebacker Zach Brown.

Garcia signed a one-year contract in the offseason after playing only eight games in 2018. His season ended with the Denver Broncos when he tore his ACL. He likely will be a reserve on the offensive line, giving the team a veteran interior lineman as depth. Last week, they only had rookie Lamont Gaillard as their interior depth, as Mason Cole started at left guard and Justin Pugh moved to right tackle to fill in for the injured Justin Murray.

McDonald suffered a shoulder injury last Thursday night. By going on injured reserve, his season is over, unless somehow the Cardinals make it to the playoffs. Teams can designate two players to return but they have to be on IR for at least eight weeks.

Brown’s release is surprising. He was signed on Friday. Apparently, he did not impress.

There will be another roster move coming. They have a vacancy on the roster after today’s moves.
